Teen killed in moped crash
A 16-year-old girl has been killed at a notorious accident spot near Par docks. Her moped was in collision with a Ford Ka, driven by a 19-year-old girl, opposite the South West Waterworks site, close to the train bridge underpass on the A3082 Par Moor road.
The accident happened at approximately 4.30pm on Monday afternoon. Police closed the road while emergency services attended the scene. The rider of the moped, named as Roseanne Allen, was declared dead at the scene, and the road remained closed for several hours as accident investigation officials carried out their work...
Last plea for parking sense
A ST AUSTELL councillor will fight the town’s corner before a Cornwall Council advisory panel makes a recommendation tomorrow on a proposal to increase charges at three of its main car parks by more than 70 per cent.
Cllr Steve Double, Poltair representative, has been given permission by the committee chairman Andrew Wallis to address the panel.
The Voice told recently fears have been expressed St Austell town centre’s rebirth could be destroyed following plans to increase charges at Polkyth, West Hill and Priory car parks for the first hour from 70 pence to £1.20....

Blazey's striker target
ST BLAZEY’S search for a new striker to replace Daniel Nancarrow may be coming towards an end after the club put in seven days notice of approach for Penzance forward Sam Cooper.
Cooper, formerly of Truro has been potentially lined up by Hooper to strengthen the green and blacks’ attacking options and he is due to hold talks with the striker from today.
Former St Blazey boss Trevor Mewton now with Penzance had alleged that Hooper had illegally approached the 18-year-old forward, who is a member of the British college’s squad....
Carclaze wind turbine fears
FIRMS that moved into a newly opened £20m St Austell business park are concerned about plans submitted to build a 100 foot high wind turbine at the site.
A number of companies located at the prestigious St Austell Enterprise Park, which received £1m Objective One funding, object to the 80Kw machine being constructed in their vicinity because of concerns the structure would be detrimental to their businesses.
The wind turbine would generate electricity for a number of zero-carbon employment units planned and could potentially supply up to 50 per cent of the park’s electrical energy demand.
But a number of businesses have noise and overlooking worries as well as concerns the wind turbine would ruin the vista of St Austell Bay....
Council opposes Wainhomes plan
More than 100 members of the public attended an extraordinary meeting of St Austell Town Council last Wednesday, where councillors unanimously opposed the controversial Wainhomes ‘northern expansion’ planning application.
The meeting gave both members of the public and councillors the opportunity to express their views and ask Wainhomes representatives questions about the application for 1,300 homes to the west of Carclaze.
Councillors opposed the plans for the homes, 9,000 square metres of employment land, parks and open spaces, a new primary school and care home, together with parking, ancillary drainage and roadworks....
