Green honeymoon for Strawbridge

Green honeymoon for StrawbridgeDaisy’s famous pre-nuptial might have agreed to a bicycle made for two, but for the star of TV’s It isn’t Easy Being Green,  Tywardreath boy James Strawbridge and his new bride Holly, a two berth Eco gypsy caravan, towed by a vintage tractor, was the honeymoon transport of choice, writes Paul Williams.
The couple drew amazed looks, as well as exasperated stares, from scores of cars in their sedate wake as they made their stylish way around the start of an odyssey that sees them following the entire Cornish coastline.
James, son of heavily moustachioed father Dick, met his TV producer future wife on the set of a programme that she was working on — appropriately called Tractor Factor — two years ago. The couple tied the knot at Newhouse Farm, James’s family home near Par, last Saturday.
Looking dapper in his David Essex-esque traveller’s garb, James took a break to explain his trip: “This is truly fantastic. Since meeting Holly, I knew she was the one and, having convinced her to up sticks from her native Lancashire, she, like me, has embraced the good life.
“The weather’s helped, mind — all this week it’s been wonderful — but I would like to say a big thank you to all of the motorists that we’ve held up! I pull in at every juncture to allow them to pass, but 15 miles an hour seems to be top wack, I’m afraid.
“Thankfully, they see the cans and the Just Married sign at the back and most people get it, and wave and toot.”
But the thought of a couple of thousand miles behind an ancient tractor isn’t exactly the high life for a high flying career girl — or is it?
“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, with anyone else, in anything other than our traveller’s wagon,” blushed Holly.
“It’s brilliant. With the solar panel, a comfortable bed, and our camping stove, we’ve got everything that we need. Since James first brought me to Cornwall, I’ve never wanted to live anywhere else.”
