Staff are targeted by thief during regatta
The Pier House Hotel in Charlestown

POLICE are investigating after hundreds of pounds worth of items belonging to staff were stolen during a theft at the Pier House Hotel.

Numerous personal items belonging to staff members were taken by an offender who walked into the hotel in Charlestown some time between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday.

Items stolen included a black bomber style jacket, a radio cassette/CD player, a Floozie floral handbag worth £70, a £150 purple Motorola mobile phone, a £70 Ted Baker pink purse, £65 in cash, various credit, debit and store cards, £30 worth of Lipsy perfume, a black cardigan, another purse, and another handbag and keys.

A member of staff from the Pier House said: “A young to middle aged man with a black cap, tracksuit and large rucksack, left the Pier House through the staff exit with two staff handbags containing valuables, purses and phones.”

The incident occurred during the busy Charlestown Regatta week.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said the value of goods taken was £456.

Police are appealing for witnesses and asking anyone with information to contact them via or by phone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/062138/17.
