Get your baking hats on

A MOVE to Channel 4, fresh presenters and a new Mary Berry has spiced up this year’s Great British Bake Off, which returned to our TV screens last night.

New presenting duo Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding were joined by 12 of Britain’s best amateur bakers as they took on their first challenge.

Expert baker Paul Hollywood and legendary cook Mary Berry’s replacement, Prue Leith, will be putting contestants through their paces over the course of 10 weeks and testing their skills at making breads, pastries, cakes and other delights.

And to coincide with the programme the Voice is giving readers, and keen cooks, a chance to battle it out to be crowned the best amateur baker.

Just follow your own recipe and send a photo of your creation to the Voice (or feel free to pop the culinary delights into our office) to our panel of judges.

As a helping hand we are sharing the first recipe to follow, which is taken from Cornwall Hospice Care’s, The Great Cornish Cake Bake Cake Book, which will be won by the ultimate baker.

The book, which raises funds for the charity, has taken a variety of people’s favourite recipes that have been handed down through the generations, and each one comes with a story.
For the next 10 weeks readers are encouraged to source their iwn recipe which ties in with the Bake Off weekly theme.

Once your entires are photographed - please send them to letters@staustellvoice.co.uk with the subject BAKE OFF, including your name, phone number, and address (not for publication).

Contestants agree to having their names printed in the paper.

In the event of cheating, we won’t be cross - just disappointed...

The Voice will run photos of  the winning creations each week - before placing all finalists’ photos on the Voice Facebook page week commencing November 6.

Whichever photo gets the most likes on the Facebook page will win a copy of the book from Cornwall Hospice Care.

As always Great British Bake Off began with cake week so readers are being challenged to create this Victoria Sponge.

Ready, steady... Bake!

The Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 on Tuesday evenings at 8pm
