A PERMANENT memorial to those who fought during the First World War has been earmarked for one of the most significant gateways into St Austell, as the centenary of the end of the battle approaches.

The sketches show what could be the view that greets visitors at Mount Charles roundabout, as part of plans to not only improve the town’s roundabouts, bridges, grass verges and other gateways, but also to mark 100 years since the end of WWI by bringing a key part of St Austell’s history to life...
