Blazey back on top

ONCE again St Blazey allowed their vistors the luxury of a two goal lead, just as they did against Wadebridge recently.
The first 30 minutes saw both clubs feeling them selves out in very blustery conditions.
With the heavy ground underfoot, this wasn’t the day for pretty football.
However, things changed in the 36th minute when the visitors opened their account via a Joe Truelove drive from 12 yards.
After the break, the visitors took just two minutes to double their lead and shock the Blaise Park faithful. Bridger’s skipper Justin Crowley looped a curling shot over the head of Blazey ‘keeper Tom Blackler.
Instead of dropping their heads, the home team upped the tempo and began the fightback.
In the 56th minute a Ben Rix free kick, drilled low and hard, ricoched in the box and the industrious Jay Isbell got the telling touch to make it 2-1.
Four minutes later and it was finally game on as the green and blacks levelled the score with a terrific 15 yard volley from new signing Lee Bradd.
This was quickly followed by another from Rix, and from this stage onwards it was all St Blazey.
Their fourth and final goal of the game came via substitute Adrian Street’s telling through ball. Once again it was that man Isbell claiming his second as he fired low past Bridgers ‘keeper Pelley.
He could have made it a hat trick when a late spot kick crashed against the bar.
A great result for the home team in extremely difficult conditions, but you can’t help wondering if they’re not making things too hard for themselves and their determined management team.
