St Stephen ready for Junior Cup final
St Stephen are bidding to win the Cornwall Junior Cup for the first time in 20 years when they take on St Minver on Friday night.
The battle of the Saints will be played at Liskeard’s Lux Park with St Stephen hoping to win the title for the first time since 1997.
They were also winners in 1996 and will fancy of their chances of going one better than last year and trying to win the title for the third time.
They are currently third in the Duchy Premier Division and looked strong in their semi-final win against Pendeen, a tough, hard fought 1-0 win.
With the Junior Cup the only realistic chance of silverware left to St Stephen this season you can bet they will be giving everything to secure the Junior Cup.
It will be a chance that manager Jason Prynne and his players will not want to let go.
Facing them will be ambitious St Minver, who are eyeing a historic season and the Junior Cup could be the first part of a treble.
They are favourites to clinch the Duchy Premier League title and are hoping to gain promotion to the East Cornwall Premier League this season.
In addition to this they are also in the Duchy League Knockout Cup final.
However St Miner will not be thinking that far ahead and all their focus will be on Friday’s Junior Cup final.
One thing is guaranteed and that is a great game of football, with passion and commitment, to find out the answers to the other questions then get yourself down to Lux Park on Friday.
Kick-off will be at 7.30pm.
